Hosted by John Cleese and auctioneer Richard Madley

Charity art auction in support of Art at the Heart of the RUH and The Bath Galleries Group

Following the massive success of the inaugural Bath Art Affair in November 2010, the Bath Galleries Group held an exclusive art auction in July 2011.

Art lover and comedy legend, John Cleese presided over the evening with help from professional auctioneer Richard Madley. With over 30 galleries in Bath, the auction featured an incredible array of art works and a memorable and fun evening was had by all in the delightful surroundings of The Octagon Chapel in Milsom Place, which has an eminent history as an arts venue.

As well as exciting work from artists such as Henri Matisse and Elisabeth Frink, ‘money can’t buy’ experiences were snapped up alongside the raffle and an Italian supper served by Jamie’s Italian. A grand total of £18,000 was raised for the forthcoming second Bath Art Affair and ‘Art at the Heart’ charity based at Royal United Hospital, Bath. The charity provides a high quality programme of events, exhibitions and workshops using art therapy to invigorate and benefit the well-being of visitors and patients. The aim is to provide the ultimate healing environment aided by innovative art and design.
